January 15 update on the Patterson Healthcare Campus Project

January 2026 - CEO’s Message

As we begin a new year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the progress made in 2025 and look ahead to what’s next for DPHCD’s Patterson healthcare campus. Last year marked a turning point for this project, as we transitioned from vision to action thanks to the continued support of our community, partners, and local leaders.

The steps taken in 2025 laid a strong foundation for bringing high-quality health care services closer to home for West Side residents. In 2026, we’ll build on that momentum as the campus moves further through the approval process and closer to construction. We’re grateful to everyone who has engaged with this project so far and look forward to continuing this journey together.

— Dr. Karin Freese, CEO of Del Puerto Health Care District

2025: A Year of Major Milestones

The past year brought meaningful progress for the Patterson healthcare campus. Key accomplishments include:

Master Plan Advancement
The DPHCD Board approved the campus Master Plan and formally submitted it to the City of Patterson for review – a major step toward securing local approvals and moving into the next phase of development.

Ongoing Community Engagement & Transparency
DPHCD hosted community engagement events, including a well-attended Town Hall, presentations to local boards, and ongoing outreach to ensure residents had opportunities to learn about the campus and share feedback.

Growing Community Support
Support for the campus continued to grow, with endorsements and public backing from the Patterson Joint Unified School District, NAMI Stanislaus, the Health Plan of San Joaquin, the Stanislaus Latino Chamber, and other community-based partners who recognize the need for expanded access to care on the West Side.

Early Construction Preparation
Site clearing and early preparation work began at the future campus location — a visible and exciting sign that planning is translating into on-the-ground progress.

Each of these milestones represents an important step toward delivering medical, behavioral health, and senior care services closer to home.

Looking Ahead: What to Expect in 2026

The coming year will focus on moving the campus from planning into implementation. Key areas of work will include:

City of Patterson Review & Approvals
The Master Plan will be reviewed by City staff and considered by the Planning Commission and City Council. Community participation will remain important during this phase, so please keep an eye on your inbox for opportunities to engage!

Advancing Phase One Facilities
Planning and coordination will continue for the first phase of construction, including the Del Puerto Ambulance and Administration Center (DPAC) and the Combined Clinic that will house primary care and community mental health.

Building Partnerships & Continued Community Outreach
DPHCD will keep working with health care providers, schools, nonprofits, and regional organizations to ensure the campus is positioned to attract services and providers that meet local needs. We will also continue sharing updates and hosting engagement opportunities so that Patterson residents are informed and involved every step of the way.

In the News

This month, the Patterson Irrigator published an op-ed by local land use planner John B. Anderson, who offered valuable perspective on the long-range planning behind the Patterson healthcare campus and why it matters for the West Side’s future growth and access to care.
